This Weeks Project...
After a wonderfully busy week full of customers and a 17th birthday party in the Gathering Room on Saturday, Jeremy and I headed to Menards to pick up a truckload of cabinets and countertops I had ordered for the front part of the Bake Shoppe Kitchen.
So thankful for a handy husband (and our truck).
The "front end" of our Bake Shoppe Kitchen is the space our hostesses normally use to serve food and other goodies during their events. The "back end" of our kitchen is where we bake and prepare cupcakes etc. The backs been mostly finished since early 2020, right before COVID hit. But we never really finished the front because we weren't hosting many events and I also really didn't think it was wise to spend the money on the project when so many things were unknown for the last 18 months.
While there are still a lot of unknowns... we're at a place now where we're ready to tackle this project and create a more functional, inviting space for our Gathering Room hostesses and their guests.
This is what the space looked like...
Kind of a hodge podge. So I emptied it, to start fresh...
And we're putting in cabinets and an extra large counter top. The cabinets will allow more hidden storage for us and the counter top will have a large enough overhang that it will have stools lining it to provide more seating for event guests and possibly to move a few of our workshops (like Cookie Decorating and Charcuterie) to the kitchen, which will be so fun!
We did make a bit more progress on the space than what's pictured here. Legs put on the cabinets, got them leveled screwed to the wall but didn't have all the tools we needed to secure the counter top so we finally called it quits about 9:30 tonight. And I didn't get another pic.
We have another shower in the space this weekend so we have a hard set deadline to get this project done and functional so I have a feeling I have a few more late nights ahead this week. I'll make sure to share the full "after" pics next week.
I'm really tired already and it's only Monday.
Beth and I are so excited to Kick-Off our new Felt Flower Workshop THIS THURSDAY EVENING. We still have 4 Spots left, so Grab a friend and join us.
Saturday's Game is at 11:00AM, so make sure to order your goodies and snacks for pickup Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. We'd love to help you cheer on the Tigers.
