The first time in 3 Years...
I'm excited and ready to return to the shop this week, but let me tell you the time off has been so HEAVENLY!
Jeremy was off too and along with quite a bit of downtime and relaxing, we did manage to tackle a few projects.
Someone in the shop over the holidays said as she glanced around the Gathering Room... "I bet your house is decorated so cute!" Well friends, parts of it are cute...and then, there's the Laundry Room. Another forgotten bit of a space resulting from moving into the house almost 10 years ago when I was about 2 weeks away from giving birth to Anni. And here it has stood ever since.

I share this horrific hodgepodge because you're my people and I know you get it.
Part of our dilemma has been trying to decide if we would leave the washer & dryer stacked or unstack them. We finally decided to leave them stacked and then happened to find a steal of a deal on some cabinets at Home Depot this weekend that fit perfectly. We added a butcher block counter top and Voila!

We had to order an additional cabinet to go over the dryer and I think that will help finish the space even more and then I'll start adding a few decorative touches. I can't tell you how much I love this room! it really is nothing fancy, but having the cabinets and all the mess behind doors (actually I got rid of a ton of stuff and there really isn't any mess now) is so refreshing. I even bought all new cleaning supplies, broom, mop, dustpan etc, because I didn't want my ratty old stuff junking up my new space!
We managed to get all the indoors Christmas trees and decor put away on Sunday, and in the spirit of trying to relax on what would be my last day of "vacation" I thought I'd take an actual bath!
Does anyone else love the idea of a bath more so than the taking of a bath? I trust there are some of you out there who really can use the bathtub as the escape it's meant to be. You climb in and the world's troubles, your messy, dirty house, and fighting kids fade away. Or maybe you use it to soak away physical soreness and it's not really about your mind.
For me...all must be right with the world before I can even GET IN the tub and relax. I can't tune out the messy bathroom vanity & dirty clothes on the floor. Nope, the bathroom needs to be clean...so I clean. And I start the laundry. Then I clean the bedroom. And then I climb in. For a split second I think "aah, this is so nice." I put on some "spa" music on my phone and grab a book and start to read. And then my glasses start fogging up, and I realize it's the first time in about 3 years when I started wearing reading glasses that I've taken a bath! I'd never had to deal with the fogged up glasses before. And then I start sweating profusely and in about 5 minutes...it's all over. I'm done.
I seriously need to learn how to relax.
I have to admit, I have no official written-down, concrete plans or goals for this year. I have some things I'd like to do rolling around in my mind but I probably need a few more weeks to think things through. Let's see how 2021 behaves herself first.

We're back to normal hours this week Tuesday - Friday 10 to 6 and Saturday 10 to 4. If you have upcoming events, cupcakes are in the case this week and we'd be happy to fill orders for you!
Happy New Year, dear ones!
