Once in a Lifetime, Once a year...
Friday night we had a really fun night hosting some of the women who will represent their various districts across Missouri in the Miss Missouri pageant this summer. I'm not a part of the pageant world. But I did enjoy watching the pageants on TV as a girl.
Let me tell you, these girls are impressive. They're kind, intelligent, funny and talented. And yes, they are beautiful, but even more so because of their heart to give back to their communities and the girls that are coming up behind them.
Their passions and platforms include Food Security, Childhood Cancer, Mental Health, Disability Awareness and Neurological Conditions...
Among them are a childhood cancer survivor, one with rare heart disorder...one who is working on her MBA, one who is finishing her Student Teaching (right here at my daughter's elementary school!)
These girls are role models.

The purpose of the event was to fundraise for the Princess Program, a mentor program that assists young girls 5-12 who want to enter the Miss America Organization. Let's not forget that many of these young girls do these pageants specifically to earn money for college.
We hosted in the Gathering Room and I continue to feel so thankful for a space that allows people to Gather for all kinds of celebrations and events. (SIDE NOTE: We are completely booked up in March, and almost all of April. We do have Saturday Openings on April 16th and 30th. We have our first bookings set in May and we even have events scheduled into July. All that to say, that if you need a cozy, unique, beautiful space for a small event (35 guests & under) we'd love to help you but don't delay in getting your events scheduled. FIND OUT MORE HERE. )

It's a Once in a Lifetime opportunity for them to chase their dream of becoming Miss America. And it only happens once a year.
Olivia, Holly, Amanda, Clare Marie, Brooke and Calissa will be competing against one another in the 2022 Miss Missouri Pageant in Mexico, MO in June. (I had no idea it was held so close in Mexico!) But you know what? I didn't witness one ounce of competition in the 3 hours they were together in the shop. I saw a spirit of support and friendship. And I feel personally invested in this year's pageant having met so many of them, and I'm glad I don't have to pick the winner. But I'm hoping to take my girls to the finals this year.
