IT’S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR…

November 19, 2019

Oh What Fun…

Thank you to everyone who read about and donated to the Hastings Family last week.  If you missed the story, it was actually picked up by The Missourian and you can also still visit their GoFund Me page.

A brief update on the Plume front.   Allison, their sweet 19 year old daughter who is one of my original Cupcake Bakers (on the left below), had been taking a leave of absence since her mom’s hospitalization in mid-October.  She gave me her resignation this past weekend.   She has such a servant’s heart and is feeling called to stay in the home and take over the household duties and schooling of the younger children.  I’m going to miss seeing her terribly, not to mention she leaves a big space to fill during a busy season, but we know she’s going to be where she is needed most.

You may remember that we hired over the summer to replace Emilia (on the right) our other original Cupcake Baker as she needed to cut back her hours in order to start her Freshman Year at Mizzou.

We hired Karen (below) but as soon as she came on board, Allison found out about her mom’s cancer.   So we’ve been pretty much running a 2-woman show with one woman off and on ever since.  Which has been tough especially considering our Cupcake Sales have almost doubled this year and we’re heading into the busy holiday season.

Karen has been a trooper and single-handedly baked the 1200 cupcakes we needed for our Birthday Celebration and has been carrying the weight almost by herself since.  When you throw in the fact that our little pink oven has been showing herself, it’s been quite challenging!!  We thought she was going out 1/2 way through Birthday Week.

As much as I hate to say it, we’re likely looking at starting 2020 with a new oven, but that means we also will need to remodel and rewire our kitchen to some extent.  And no one is looking forward to that.  But that’s what happens when you have a delicious & beautiful product combined with amazing customers.  You have growth, and that’s a good thing.  But not without some growing pains.Needless to say, we need to find Karen some help, and quickly.

If you’re efficient in the kitchen and have a positive outlook, …this job may be for you!  (Or if you know someone who sounds like a good fit, send them our way).    Hours are 6:30- 9:30AM Tuesday – Saturday.   We try to alternate Saturdays so likely just 2 per month, but always done by 9:30am and it’s possible that you would have another day off during the week based on our baking schedule, but we need availability for all 5 days.  We’re looking for someone to start immediately, and at the latest, Monday Dec 2nd.   Interested candidates can email their resume to:  kelly@somethingplume.com.There’s so many other fun things going on I think I’ll just list them here… You can click on each link to head over to the Facebook Events for more info.
